.The Project

TERRRIBLE Studios was brought on by Lost Cosmonauts Studios in New Zealand to create the full storyboard and animatic for the official Palworld 1.0 Cinematic Trailer, produced for Pocketpair in Japan.

Working from a script, we designed the complete visual sequence, including shot composition, camera movement, action staging, transitions, and overall pacing.

The final project consisted of two cinematic sequences totaling approximately 1 minute and 45 seconds.

Over six weeks, we created around 600 storyboard panels and assembled the full animatic in Storyboard Pro, with Blender used for selected shots and spatial planning.

.Side By Side

.Overview

The core challenge was fitting a dense, action-heavy script into a short and readable cinematic sequence.

The choreography was established in the script, but there was significant freedom to interpret how each beat would unfold on screen. This included designing the camera language, clarifying the geography of the action, controlling the rhythm of each reveal, and making sure every new character or creature could be understood immediately.

The sequence moves from a grounded chase through the forest into a large-scale battle on a floating island, before transitioning into a fast aerial pursuit through the clouds. The animatic was built to give the 3D animation team a clear production roadmap while still leaving room for further refinement during animation.
